How to get to Isla Mujeres from Cancun

We caught the Ultramar Ferry from Canun to Isla Mujeres. They have ferry’s running from 5.30am to midnight daily, from 3 departure ports in Cancun.

Luckily for us, the Playa Caracol Port / Jetty was right next door to our hotel which was a bonus! (We stayed at the Grand Fiesta Cancun Coral Beach Resort which we highly recommend if you’re looking for a kick-arse ALL INCLUSIVE!)

  2. Puerto Tortugas
  3. Playa Caracol (Hotel Zone)

Getting around Isla Mujeres

The best (AND FUNNEST) way to explore Isla Mujeres is by far by golf buggy! It’s cheap and gives you an easy way to explore from tip to tip.

TIPS for hiring a buggy in Isla Mujeres:
  • Expect to pay approximately $70 / 24hours
  • You will likely get a reduced rate for booking multiple days.
  • There will be loads of Vendors to choose from, as soon as you get off the ferry.
  • NOTE: There are a few, not many, but some, that will charge you for day hire and not 24 hours. So make sure you check this while negotiating.

Probably the number 1 thing, people do when they get to Isla Mujeres is go to see Playa Norte. Playa Norte beach is STUNNING! It is a perfect for lounging, swimming in the crystal-clear turquoise sea, enjoying beachside cocktails, and taking in the breathtaking views.

Visit Club D Playa & Hotel. Admission is only 50 Pescos and its a great snorkel spot, next door to the Garrafon Park. There are tons of fish and plenty of lounge chairs available.
