When deciding where to stay in Shenzhen, Futian District is one of my top picks. It’s modern, central, and ridiculously convenient, with fast metro connections, major shopping malls, and easy access to both the airport and high-speed rail.

If you want a slightly more local, energetic vibe, my second choice is the Dongmen Market area. Staying near Dongmen means you’re right in the middle of the shopping, night markets, street food stalls, late-night shopping, and old-school Shenzhen buzz. It’s lively, affordable, and perfect if you love stepping out of your hotel straight into the action. A less polished skyline, more chaotic, shopping and midnight snacks.

🚄 Easy Transport Hacks

Getting around Shenzhen is a breeze. High-speed trains handle longer trips, while the metro connects most parts of the city with ease.

That said, we mostly used DiDi. Taxis and rideshares in China are ridiculously cheap and super convenient, making it perfect for door-to-door hops between popular sites, theme parks, museums, shopping malls, and cultural sites. Basically… maximum convenience, minimum effort.
