Where to stay in Shenzhen
When deciding where to stay in Shenzhen, Futian District is one of my top picks. It’s modern, central, and ridiculously convenient, with fast metro connections, major shopping malls, and easy access to both the airport and high-speed rail.
If you want a slightly more local, energetic vibe, my second choice is the Dongmen Market area. Staying near Dongmen means you’re right in the middle of the shopping, night markets, street food stalls, late-night shopping, and old-school Shenzhen buzz. It’s lively, affordable, and perfect if you love stepping out of your hotel straight into the action. A less polished skyline, more chaotic, shopping and midnight snacks.
Best Hotels in Futian Shenzhen
My top hotel suggestions in Shenzhen:
Wyndham Grand Shenzhen – Futian central, skyline views, comfy rooms, super easy metro access. Convenience + vibes. ✅
Atour Hotel Futian CBD – Modern, cosy, budget‑friendly, right by Gangxia North metro. Smart choice for city explorers. 🚇

Best Hotels in Dongmen Shenzhen
Hyatt Place Dongmen – Steps from the night market chaos, street eats, and shopping. 🌃
Crowne Plaza Dongmen – Dongmen action by day, polished comfort by night. Bigger rooms, extra perks, still in the heart of it. 🏙️
Best Hotel in Miyne Shenzhen (Santorini style beach hotel)
Miyue · Shenzhen Blue and White Saint Island – is a Cliffside Santorini vibe hotel with hot tubs and private pools. Perfect for a dreamy beachside getaway vibe away from the city buzz. 🛁🌊

Lianhuashan Park

Getting around Shenzhen is a breeze. High-speed trains handle longer trips, while the metro connects most parts of the city with ease.
That said, we mostly used DiDi. Taxis and rideshares in China are ridiculously cheap and super convenient, making it perfect for door-to-door hops between popular sites, theme parks, museums, shopping malls, and cultural sites. Basically… maximum convenience, minimum effort.
Shenzhen is a city of contrasts… Mega light displays, modern technology, mini replicas next to megaskyscrapers, serene beaches next to bustling malls, and creative art districts next to historic Hakka villages. If you’re looking for a vibrant mix of culture, nature, tech, and fun, Shenzhen should be at the top of your China bucket list.
