Getting to Mount Fuji from Tokyo is quite straightforward. The BEST way to navigate is to use Google or Apple maps and use your location and put in ‘Kawaguchiko Station‘ as your end station. This will bring up several options and times.

Should you stay overnight?

1. Shiraito No Taki Waterfall AND Otodome no Taki Waterfall: Conveniently located at the same location, both of these waterfalls are beautiful. We loved the view from the viewing platform of Otodome no Taki Waterfall looking out over Mount Fuji and the sheer size of Shiraito no Taki Waterfall! Plus, entry is FREE!

2. Lake Monto: Less crowded than other lakes, Lake Monto provides a peaceful setting with the stunning backdrop of Mount Fuji. It is also located very close to Nakanokura Pass View Point and offers many other beautiful viewpoints of Mount Fuji.

3. Nakanokura Pass View Point: This scenic viewpoint offers breathtaking panoramic views of Mount Fuji, making it a perfect spot for photography and enjoying the natural beauty of the area.

4. Yamanakako Hana no Miyako Park: A stunning flower park that features vibrant seasonal blooms with Mount Fuji providing a picturesque backdrop.

5. Oishi Park is a free garden with seasonal flowers and shrubs overlooking the Mount Fuji. It also has a cafe that offers an amazing view as well.

6. Oshino Hakkai: Oshino Hakkai is traditional themed village, surrounded by beautiful ponds and offers a glimpse into Japan’s rural heritage, along with stunning views of Mount Fuji.

7. Saiko Iyashino-Sato Nenba: This cultural village showcases traditional thatched-roof houses and offers various activities, including craft workshops, set against the backdrop of Mount Fuji’s majestic silhouette.

15. Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine: This was one of our favorite Shrines in Japan, the entrance was magnificent with the biggest trees and lanterns lining the pathway. The grounds themselves were very large.

Tips for seeing Mount Fuji

Consider these tips for choosing the ideal days to visit:

  • Check Weather Forecasts: Look for days with clear skies. Generally, late autumn (November) and winter (December to February) offer clearer days.
  • Avoid June and July: These months are part of Japan’s rainy season, so visibility is often poor.
  • Go Early: Early mornings often have less haze and clearer skies, providing the best views.
  • Autumn: October and early November showcase beautiful fall foliage, enhancing the scenery.
  • Winter: Snow-capped peaks in winter provide stunning visuals, but dress warmly!
